Winners (Kochi) - Wonderla Environment and Energy Conservation Awards 2017
Environment and Energy conservation Awards instituted by Wonderla Holidays for schools in Kerala and Tamil Nadu were presented to the winners by renowned film actor Shri. Tini Tom, at the function held in Wonderla Kochi on Monday, 12th February 2018.
The first prize winner St. Paul's Public School, Kuriachira, Thrissur was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50000. K.H.M.H.S.S Valakulam (Malappuram) and Holy Queen's U.P.S, Rajakumary (Idukki) shared the second position and were awarded Rs. 25000 each. A cash prize of Rs.15000 was awarded to Amrita Vidyalayam, Kodungallur (Thrissur), Chavara Darsan CMI Public School, Koonammavu (Ernakulam) and Jawahar Public School, Edava (Thiruvananthapuram) who shared the third position. Apart from the cash prize, the winners were also awarded with a trophy and a certificate of appreciation.
The function was presided over by Wonderla Holidays Founder Shri. Kochouseph Chittilappilly in the presence of Wonderla Holidays Ltd. Chairman Shri. M. Ramachandran. The keynote address was delivered by Shri. Tini Tom. Wonderla Kochi Park Head, Shri. Ravikumar M. A welcomed the guests and Guest Relations Manager, Shri. Mohankumar R delivered vote of thanks. While addressing the students, Shri. Tini Tom stated that the award distributed to the schools will help in building awareness among the students on the importance of protecting and conserving nature. He also wished the students, the future generation to be better nature lovers.

Bengaluru: February 14th 2018: Wonderla Holidays announced the winners of “Wonderla Environment & Energy Conservation Awards – 2017” for schools across Karnataka and Tamilnadu. The awards were presented to the winners by the popular film actress Ms.Kavya Shetty in the presence of Wonderla Holidays Managing Director Shri. Arun K Chittilappilly and Bengaluru Park Head Shri. Rudresh HS.
WEECA - “Wonderla Environment & Energy Conservation Awards” is an annual property of the company to acknowledge and reward schools, that have adopted the most innovative and effective practices to conserve and manage natural resources in their premises and to create awareness about the environment in younger minds and encourage them to ‘Go Green’.
The seventh consecutive year of “Wonderla Environment & Energy Conservation Awards” contest received a remarkable participation of 150 schools from Karnataka and Tamilnadu. The short listing of nominations was based on a complete audit of the schools’ overall environmental practices carried out by its management and students. Wonderla has been ISO 14001 certified for being environment friendly and conserving natural resources, and has taken up several ‘Go Green’ and ‘Save Nature’ initiatives in support of green movement.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Arun Chittilappilly, Managing Director of Wonderla Holidays said, “Wonderla Environment & Energy Conservation Awards is very much in line with our brand’s objective to create a green world. The aim of the award is not merely to rate, but to encourage schools to protect and conserve nature and support to build up a healthier environment. We are delighted with the responses that we have received this year and would like to thank each participating school who came forward and took part in this noble initiative.”
The 1st prize winner Delhi Public School, Sathanur Village - Bengaluru was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-. Vagdevi Vilas School, Marathahalli - Bengaluru and Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Hosur - Krishnagiri shared the 2nd position and were awarded Rs. 25,000/- each. St. Patrick's A.I. Hr.Sec. School, Adyar – Chennai, Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva High School, Alike – Dakshina Kannada and Candor International school- Bengaluru, who shared the third position were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 15,000/- each. Apart from the cash prize, the winners were also awarded with a ‘Trophy’ and ‘Certificate of Appreciation’. In addition, Wonderla also gave away special recognition awards to 20 other schools across Karnataka.

The awards were presented to the winners by Dr.Samudrala Venugopal Chary - the Former Union Minister and special representative for Government of Telengana - in the presence of Wonderla Holidays Managing Director Shri. Arun K Chittilappilly and Hyderabad Park Head Shri. Madhusudhan Gutta.
